Washington School Principals' Education Foundation
Since 1982 - collaborating within a place, making change, and fulfilling our mission.
The foundation for WA schools, their students and leaders
We believe children at all grade levels have potential to become leaders in their neighborhoods, schools, and communities. Through social/emotional learning and environmental education, we approach the needs of the whole child, striving to support and improve their growth in the social and academic domains.
Developing and empowering students to lead.
The Association of Washington School Principals set up WSPEF to further the development of children’s education long before social-emotional learning (SEL) became a term. Since 1956, one component, the Association of Washington Student Leaders (AWSL) has been developing and empowering students to lead: in their schools, within their groups, and in their communities.
Mission.
Provide needed resources for schools and school leaders in support of EVERY student to excel inside and outside of the classroom through extraordinary learning opportunities.
Vision.
We share the vision where students achieve success through out-of-the-box thinking, unique opportunities and access to inspiring possibilities; and where the communities, large and small, work together in support of schools across Washington state.
Our Foundation Family
-
The Association of Washington State Principles (AWSP) exists to serve principals and students alike and has been doing so since 1972. They support members and students through advocacy, support, and communications. The AWSP is composed of boards, committees, and advisory councils, each serving to support principals, principalship, and students.
-
The AWSP established the Washington School Principals Foundation (WSPEF) to develop, implement, and reinforce social-emotional learning for students. It has created numerous programs in an effort to do this, including the Cispus Learning Center and Outdoor Schools Washington.
-
The Washington Student Leader Academy believes in the power of transformative leadership on student achievement. Their program creates collaborative learning systems and builds effective teams to solve complex issues faced by teachers and students.
-
The Association of Washington Student Leaders (AWSL) encourages student action by empowering them to make leadership decisions and actualize positive change in their communities. It is a division of the AWSP.
-
The Cispus Learning Center, located in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, is a 68-acre facility that offers students a unique Pacific Northwest outdoor learning environment. Cispus Learning Center's mission is to support the enhancement of K-12 educational programmes for children in Washington's public schools. It is a subsidiary of the WSPEF, as well as the AWSL.
-
Outdoor Schools Washington enables every kid in The Evergreen State to participate in residential outdoor education experiences, allowing them to form relationships with people and connections with the natural environment via curiosity, discovery, and science.
This is a WSPEF program.
